I fully understand that a beer garden will not be to everyone’s liking, but you may be surprised by just how many guys do want this sort of bar. What has surprised me is that the ladies seem to have grasped the concept quicker than the guys. It seems a lot of Pattaya guys have not visited the Beer Garden in Bangkok and don’t understand how it works.

The ladies will not chase you in the Beer Garden. All the ladies are available but you need to indicate some interest before they will approach you. A simple smile, nod of the head, or a wave will usually do the trick.

This is not a high school dance, guys. SMILE at the girls. They’ll come over. They won’t take you home to meet Dad. Really, they won’t.

The foolproof approach which I have not seen fail yet is to walk over to the girl and say hello. After that, Pattaya and nature take their course easily and hassle free. Remember, there are no barfines or lady drinks at The Pattaya Beer Garden.

Some guys tell me they worry that a particular girl is not available so they don’t approach her. Here is the answer: If a girl is sitting alone or with a group of girls, she is available.

No doubt about it. Just say Hi and all will flow from there.

What is this really about?

It’s about Face. And practicality. First, Thailand has important economic ties with China. Second, China is much, much larger and more powerful than Thailand.   Because he’ll be getting a very nice cut of the money you pay off the cops with to keep your virgin ass out of prison. Or because you’re buying from an undercover cop. It happens.

If you’re use to the casual smoking of marijuana - forget it. This is serious stuff in Thailand. If you’re use to swaggering about in your home country and telling people that it’s “Safer than alcohol and alcohol is legal - so I don’t see a problem with marijuana“, well, get rid of that attitude because THEY DON’T CARE WHAT YOU THINK The law is the law. You must not do this in Thailand. It’s not subject to debate. It’s not something to chuckle about and wink and go off and do anyway. Doing so will put you in jail for a very long time and deported forever thereafter. Your embassy will not be able to help you. Do you really want to tempt fate? On the other hand, many drugs sold strictly on a prescription basis at home are available as over-the-counter medications. If you want to knock yourself out with Valium, then have a ball. Body builders get anabolic steroids without any problem. And best of all, Viagra and Cialis are sold everywhere!

The legal drug of choice is alcohol. It’s consumed in copious amounts. In fact, there’s no such thing as a celebration (and Thais do love to celebrate) without it. No doubt it causes far more harm than all other drugs combined but that’s the way things are.

So you’ll just have to make do with all the beer and whiskey you can drink - and all the pussy you can bed.

The “morons” who pay more than 1000 baht long time don’t have to do any running around.

They walk, not run, into any gogo bar in town, find Miss Tonight, negotiate an agreeable number in a simple process where the punter is not getting completely skinned and the girl doesn’t have to face God only knows what sort of inner shame by auctioning herself off to the lowest bidder.

The guys who live to have no regrets (and know what the going rates are) head off with any girl they want in tow at any time of night. Mission accomplished and they soon find out if she’s as good in the sack as she looks instead of forever wondering about it.

Some guys have self-imposed parameters, expecting 1000 baht long times from Pattaya’s top shelf totty being no small hurdle for starters. Sure, for whatever reasons it can and does happen on occasion. But to expect it as a normal price with girls from the big gogos, where hundreds of guys pass through every evening and who really couldn’t care less about the additional cost so that they can have a solid 10 or the gogo’s featured lesbian act for home screening purposes? No.

…unless a trick used by despicable low cunts (often expats and temporary friends of bar owners/managers around town) is used.

Second, they’re pictures.

And looking at pictures misses the point. The whole idea of the Guide is for you to go where the girls are and to have a good time. (Of course, you could make your own pictures, but that’s another topic.)

The purpose of the Guide is more than simply “where to go” and “how much to pay”. The purpose is also to make your trip something that will forever make you smile.

That is essentially the Guide’s purpose.

Soi Pattayaland 2 (aka Soi 13/4) is must-do Pattaya experience.

There are wall to wall gogos, lit up like giant Christmas trees, with touts coaxing you to enter their respective establishments. And just to show how fair Thailand is, there are both boy, as well as girl gogos (think Sodom and Gomorrah and you’re not far off the mark).

While there has been a noticeable encroachment of boy gogos of late, this area is still worth taking a look at.

Penthouse Hotel
There is one hotel in the middle of this area that deserves special mention: The Penthouse Hotel (http://www.penthousehotel.com). ‘Subtle’ it is not. It’s decorated like a baroque brothel. It makes Las Vegas look pale by comparison.

The rooms are done up like something out of The Kama Sutra.

There are mirrors on the walls, on the ceiling, a bar to hold onto at the head of the bed which itself is 3 feet off the ground (just at waist level), you get the idea.

If you splurge for the Penthouse Party Patpong room, you get a disco dance stage – with lighting, ’massage’ sex swing (a signed “not responsible for injuries” document is required for use), along with a Jacuzzi, multi-head shower, mirrors, and the rest.

But wait! You can get even more outrageous with the Babylon Suite Triplex (I’m afraid to know what more is included as my heart might not be able to take it). The mind boggles.

There’s also a fantasy fun spa that must be seen to be believed. It’s available for private parties.

You’re not going to find many hotels like this.

The Penthouse Hotel is not meant for slackers. There is a certain level of debauchery you’re expected to uphold here.

Guest friendly you ask? Anything short of sheep is considered fair game.

Rooms are made up twice a day. Oh, and each room has an extensive supply of whatever you might be in need of: toiletries, snacks, mini-bar, condoms, lube, dildos, and bondage supplies.

There’s an orientation notebook that has, in addition to what’s going on in town and a restaurant menu, some heartfelt advice suggesting that using condoms might be a good idea.

Cobra Gold is an annual joint military exercise held between Thai and American forces. The US Navy comes to Pattaya.

First
This exercise generally starts late April and usually runs through most of May.

However, no one knows exactly when the navy will arrive, including the sailors themselves. Anyone who tells you differently is WRONG. The way the navy works is to keep everyone in the dark about where they are or when they will be at any location.

There is a plan BUT it gets changed all the time and without notice. Of the many rumors that they are coming on such and such a date 99% are wrong. You are better off flipping a coin rather than listening to rumors.

Second
It makes little difference except around Walking Street when they are in town. If a carrier group arrives there will be about 6,000 sailors. At any one time no more than half are allowed on shore so that means 3,000 in town. There are 3,000 bars in Pattaya so that’s one extra person per bar. So who cares.

In reality though, the sailors tend to hang around Walking Street and Soi Pattayaland 2. You’d be lucky to see a single sailor in Soi 8 or North Pattaya.

Third
During Cobra Gold no more than 200 guys get leave on any one day. The impact on Pattaya is ZERO. Usually for the last three days in late May a larger number will be given leave. Maybe a thousand or so. Impact on Pattaya - negligible.

Remember, Pattaya has a huge overcapacity of bars and ladies.

Plus, when rumors of the navy’s imminent arrival surface, thousands of girls trek down from Bangkok. That means the ratio of men to women probably improves even if the navy does turn up. If the navy doesn’t show up - which is the more common scenario - the ratio goes through the roof.
